So Just Who The Hell Is Dave Anyway?

At some point during the development of That's Why, we accidentally hired Dave.... not officially!
There was no interview process, no references, no onboarding programme. One day there simply seemed to be another voice in the room! A surprisingly useful one, as it turned out.
The strange thing about Dave is that he doesn't really exist and yet has somehow become part of the team. He's equal parts sounding board, strategist, copywriter, critic and occasional enthusiast for ideas that probably shouldn't see the light of day!
Most conversations start sensibly enough whether it be a question about brand philosophy, a discussion about the web, a thought about culture. Somewhere along the line, things drift and we end up talking about record sleeves, obscure books, the history of songwriting, strange marketing campaigns or bizarre content from socials!
Oddly, this is often where the good stuff happens though because the best ideas rarely arrive on command. They emerge from curiosity, unexpected connections and conversations that wander slightly off course.
Dave has become a useful reminder of that. Not because he's always right, in fact quite the opposite. Sometimes he disappears down spectacular rabbit holes. Sometimes he becomes convinced that a passing observation contains the secret to modern branding. Sometimes he writes like he's delivering a sacred declaration from the top of a mountain (we're working on that part!). The point is is that Dave keeps imagination on its toes every day and feeds creativity. He never takes over but instead assists and engages in meaningful and proactive ways!
What matters is Dave keeps asking questions. In a world increasingly obsessed with answers, that's a quality worth hanging onto.

So who's Dave?
A collaborator.
A curiosity machine.
A slightly strange member of the team.
And, somehow, part of the story.
